Marble Cathedral in Kayak
It is an activity of 3 hours of duration approx. We will meet at Puerto Rio Tranquilo where a vehicle will take us to Bahia Mansa located 6 km away.
At the place we will have a technical and safety talk about the activity to be carried out. We embark and begin paddling on Lake Chelenko (better known as General Carrera) in the direction of the nature sanctuary, Marble Chapels. With its carved columns, vaulted ceilings and ornately textured walls, this unique geological formation on the western edge of the lake is known locally as the "Marble Cathedral".
The reserve is located in Puntilla Capilla el Mármol, surrounded by the waters of Lake General Carrera. Its main feature is the marble outcrop, which is located along a coastal strip of about 300 meters long. Geographically it is located at 46° 39′ 30″ south latitude and 76° 37′ 30″ west longitude, at an altitude of 350 meters and by decree has an approximate area of 50 hectares.
The route of the trip includes the tunnel, chapel and cathedral of Marmol, after touring the sanctuary and taking pictures we return to Bahia Mansa.
The Marble Caves have a unique white and transparent appearance. They are formed by millenary rock formations that you can touch with your hand. The Marble Caves are a natural monument of great art, with their mysterious formations and unique architecture. In the quiet of the early morning, these caves are the ideal setting for a retreat.
Marvel at the beauty of nature and all its impressive sculptures. This is a trip to remember. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience, you won't want to miss the beautiful marble chapels.

Explorers Glacier
Glaciers are rivers of ice formed by prolonged snowfall that eventually compress into thick blocks of ice. Official classifications may vary, but glaciers are generally considered to be ice masses of ≥100 m2 in area and approximately ≥50 m1 ice depth.
Glaciers are also responsible for creating fjords, the deep, steep inlets found at high latitudes. They can be more than a kilometer deep. Calluqueo Glacier is a perfect place for those seeking direct contact with nature, making it an unmissable panorama.
Glacier walks on the route of the explorer. Trekking and hiking on millenary ice to see, hear and feel its beauty up close.
What types of glaciers are there?
Glaciers can be classified according to their shape, size, location or thermal regime. Some of the most common types are:
- Valley glaciers: are those that form in the mountains and follow the course of a river. They have an elongated shape and can be several kilometers long.
- Cirque glaciers: are those that form in the high areas of the mountains, in circular depressions called cirques. They are bowl-shaped and are usually small.
- Niche glaciers: they are formed on mountain slopes, in areas protected from the sun and wind. They are crescent-shaped and are usually small.
- Cap glaciers: are those that cover large extensions of land, such as continents or islands. They are irregular in shape and can have a surface area of millions of square kilometers.
- Shelf glaciers: are those that extend from the cap glaciers to the sea, forming a floating ice sheet. They are flat in shape and can be hundreds of meters thick.
How important are glaciers?
Glaciers are very important for the environment because:
- They store 75% of the planet's freshwater, making them a vital source of water resources for many regions.
- They regulate the climate by reflecting solar radiation and preventing global warming.
- They generate biodiversity, as they are home to unique species adapted to the extreme conditions of the ice.
- They create beauty, as they offer unique and spectacular landscapes that attract tourists and scientists.
